Right next to the back entrance of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp an entire wall is absorbed by Denie Put’s intuitive and abstract play of colors, forms and lines. Without a prior design and solely limited by the reach of his haudraulic platform, the artists curved formations left the canvas and entered the street scene. The title ‚Zijne bevreesde hoogheid‘ comments on the making-process of this painting. Freely translated it says ‚His feared highness‘, with a fear of heights personal boundaries of Denie Put were addressed whilst creating this piece, which was part of the exhibition ’11 Artists against the wall‘. Here he was one of the only participants using an entire wall-surface, as others often created their own framing.
